Note: It may take some time for the indices folder to completely rebuild. You may be able to judge the progress by monitoring the amount of resources Act.ServerHost.exe is using in the processes inside of the Windows Task Manager. It may be necessary to reboot your computer after the indices folder has been rebuilt before you can test the Universal Search.

- Make a back up of your Act! database. The following Knowledgebase article provides instructions:

- Close Act!
- Under the Processes tab in your Windows® Task Manager, locate and end process for the Act.Server.Host.exe service
- Rename the existing Indices folder to IndicesOLD. By default, this folder is found in the location below, based on your version of Windows:
- Windows® XP, Windows Server® 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ACT\ACT Data\Indices
- Windows Vista® and later: C:\ProgramData\Act\ACT Data\Indices
- On your keyboard press the Windows Key + R
- Type ACTDIAG and click OK. The ACT! Diagnostics utility will open.
- Click On the Database menu and select Database List
- Select your database
- Click on the Actions menu and select Refresh Search Indexes
- Close ACT! Diagnostics
- On your keyboard press the Windows Key + R
- Type Services.msc and click OK
- Right-click on ACT! Service Host and select Start
- Open your Act! Database to begin rebuilding the indices
- Test the Universal Search
