This often occurs during the phase immediately following the upload of your contacts. During this time, Act! updates the histories of your contacts to reflect their being included in the blast. While Act! is busy writing to the histories, the program may appear to become unresponsive or may not respond to Windows in a way that Windows expects it to respond, but the histories are actually recording. While Act! is busy writing to the histories, it may not respond to Windows in the way Windows expects it to but it is working as designed. Properly writing the campaign histories can take several minutes depending on the size of your blast.
Properly writing the campaign histories can take several minutes depending on the size of your email blast. Should you receive a Not Responding message, do not close the program. Allow the program to sit for a few minutes while the histories get recorded, then the message should go away and you will be able to use Act! again.
If you are concerned the program has in fact frozen, you can confirm it is writing to the hard drive by checking the HDD indicator light present on most computer cases is flashing.
