You would like to understand the functions and how to use the General Preferences -- Web Page Dialog in ACT! Premium for Web.
The General Preferences allow each user to customize their settings for each ACT! Premium for Web database that they login to. The user can control country codes for phone fields, history editing, List and Tab views, and number of rows that are displayed of each List and Tab view. Use the following steps to open the General Preferences settings:
Once you have made the needed changes for your customization click OK to save, or Cancel to discard your changes.

- Launch Internet Explorer and navigate to the login page for ACT! Premium for Web. (Contact your ACT! Premium for Web administrator for your Web page)
- Login to your ACT! Premium for Web database.
- Click the Tools menu, and then Preferences. The Preferences -- Web Page Dialog appears.
- Click General. The General Preferences -- Web Page Dialog appears:
- Enable the Always display country code in phone field if you would like use this option.
- Enable the Allow history editing option to allow you to edit history of a Contact.
- Click the Set Password button to change your password for ACT!. The Set Password -- Web Page Dialog appears:
- Type your password in the Current password field.
- Type your new password in the New password field.
- Type your new password again in the Confirm new password field.
- Click OK to change and save your new password or Cancel to discard the change.
- You may customize the following list and tab views with grid lines by enabling the appropriate check box(s) from the drop-down: Contact, Group, Task, Company, Opportunity List, Contact, Notes, History, Activities, Opportunities, Group and Company, Secondary Contacts, and Document Tab.
- You may customize the following list and tab view to display alternation background colors for each row by enabling the appropriate check box(s) from the drop-down: Contact, Group, Task, Company, Opportunity List, Contact, Notes, History, Activities, Opportunities, Group and Company, Secondary Contacts, and Document Tab.
- You may customize the number of rows that are displayed for each of the following list or tab views by changing the number value in each field: Contact, Group, Task, Company, Opportunity List, Contact, Notes, History, Activities, Opportunities, Group and Company, Secondary Contacts, and Document Tab.
Once you have made the needed changes for your customization click OK to save, or Cancel to discard your changes.
