You are attempting to synchronize Act! with Microsoft Outlook contacts or calendar and receive an error that the synchronization has failed.
You have attempted to synchronize your Act! database with Outlook and receive an error similar to this:

UAC Enabled
If the synchronization times out on a Vista or Windows 7 operating system, disable UAC and then attempt to sync.
COM Class Errors
If the sync with Outlook fails with an error message and the customer also receives an Error Retrieving the Com Class error when clicking on an e-mail address field, it could be that the Redemption.dll file is not registered. Review the following articles for steps to register the DLL file:
Message: Act.Outlook.Sync.exe has stopped working followed by Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {C72F554F-578C-11D5-BF99-006008C0F63B} failed due to the following error: 80040154

Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)).
If customer had Office 2010 and then reverted to Office 2007, remove the following registry key:
Incorrect Version of Mapi32.dll

Create New Outlook Profile
Create a new Outlook profile to test synchronization.
If the synchronization succeeded but Outlook now crashes, create a new Outlook profile and make the original a secondary to it. You should be able to open the calendar so that you can clear off all activities and run ScanPST, then set the original profile back to default and attempt to launch Outlook.
Create New Outlook Extend.dat File (Outlook 2003 and 2007 only) You may be able to resolve issues with ACT! and Outlook integration by renaming the extend.dat file found in the Outlook directory. The location of this file is as follows depending on the version of Windows you are using:
Note: In the above file paths, (username) would be your Windows account name.
First close ACT! and Outlook on your machine. Then in this directory, locate the extend.dat file and rename it to extend.dat.old. When you reopen Outlook, a new extend.dat file will be created.
Error: Unable to log on to ACT! database. Do you want to configure Outlook address book?
If you receive this error when initiating the Act! to Microsoft Outlook synchronization, give Full Permissions for the Windows user to the path: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\ACT\ACT Data\Outlook Sync and test sync again.
Long Synchronization times
If sync takes a long time with no errors and you are syncing both contacts and calendar try going to Tools>Synchronize with Outlook>Outlook Synchronization Preferences and on the calendar tab click the Advanced Preferences box. Change the Select days on calendar to synchronize to 1 day ago and 7 days in the future and try sync again.

Steps to resolve:
- Stop Act.Outlook.Service.exe.
- Close ACT! and Outlook.
- Copy ADChronopher.dll and Interop.ADChronopher.dll from the disk
- Copy and replace Interop.ADChronopher.dll to Assembly and C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows\OutlookInt\inst\GlobalAssemblyCache
- Copy ADChronopher.dll to System32 and C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows\OutlookInt\inst\System32
- Go to C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows\ and run gacutilitout.bat and gacutilit.bat
Sync Failed message with following error in Event Viewer:

Problem with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.2.21022
- Stop Act.Outlook.Sync.exe service
- Remove Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -x86 9.0.2.21022 per instructions in KB 23426.
- Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -x86 9.0.2.21022 from the ACT install disk
- Rename the Outlook sync folder in ACT Data folder
- Prompt sync to start without ACT
