We were informed that an embedded third-party software component of Act! that facilitates licensing services would be discontinued by the manufacturer at the end of 2018. Read the full statement here.
Once retired, v20.0.2 will no longer be able to:
- Install Act! on new machines
- Re-activate Act! on existing machines
- Modify your user count
- Make key modifications to existing machines (eg. Motherboard swap, network card swap)
- Verify active subscriber status automatically
Once the 3rd party licensing component has been retired, standard subscription entitlement checks and/or taking the actions listed above will cause Act! to fail and you will no longer be able to access your database.
As an active Act! subscriber, you are entitled to receive updates that help ensure your software continues to run optimally. If you are currently using an offline client, an update (Act! v21 Update 5) is available that introduces a new licensing component within Act!. You must apply this update to ensure uninterrupted access to Act! In 2019.
In order to ensure uninterrupted access to your product in 2019, you must apply the update.
