Product Family: Act! Growth Suite (US trial accounts only)
Whenever you sign up for a free trial of Act!, you will now experience the new Getting Started menu. This is a brand new feature that has been specifically designed to make sure that onboarding with Act! Growth Suite is as easy and smooth an experience as possible.
The purpose of this menu is to quickly and easily walk you through using the Act! Growth Suite product. It advises which tasks you should perform immediately, such as importing any existing contacts, and shows you exactly how to perform these steps. It also provides a list of commonly performed tasks in Act! Growth Suite designed to familiarize you in working within some of the key areas of the program.
Tasks
The Getting Started menu will automatically pop-up when you first log into your trial:
This initial screen requires you to click the Get Started button, and this will launch the Getting Started window:
The menu lists six tasks for you to complete, beginning with the critical task of importing your existing contacts into your database. It also remembers your progress, so should you choose to log out of Act! Growth Suite for now, the next time you log back in the menu will allow you to pick up where you left off as per the screenshot above.
If you are confident using the program, you can choose to click the X in the top right corner of the menu which will minimize it into the bottom right corner of your screen. Simply click on the menu again if you wish to re-open the menu.
The first prompt you will see advises you to import contacts into your database:
Clicking this prompt provides a mini tutorial to help you go through the process of importing your contacts. Helpful text-box tips explain exactly where you need to click and what you will be trying to achieve.
Once the import has actually been completed, a further prompt will double-check to make sure you did actually complete the procedure successfully (just in case you decided to stop the process midway through).
You might notice too that there is a link to a video tutorial on importing contacts into your database. Throughout the whole Getting Started menu, the text boxes will regularly have links to video tutorials to provide an extra level of support.
Once you click the button to indicate your import was successful, the Getting Started menu will update with your current progress.
You can then continue to work through the list of tasks available, and each time you click on a new task you will directed by easy to follow text-box instructions, many of which contain links to online video tutorials.
Help
As well as the task list in the Getting Started menu, there is also a Help tab available.
The two topics currently available under the Help tab are Account Setup and Marketing. Clicking the + icons will expand those sections and provide links to specific help topics.
You can then click on any topic to learn more information. There are three different item types available here:
This will take you to an online Knowledgebase article which provides detailed instructions that you can work through.
This will take you to an online video tutorial.
This will launch a text-box as per the Tasks tab that we have previously looked at.
Smart Tips
On top of the Getting Started menu, the trial experience now includes specially designed Smart Tips to make the experience of getting to grips with Act! Growth Suite even easier.
In the top right corner of various sections of the program, you will see a question mark icon appearing next to the section name:
Moving the mouse over the icon will show a text-box that has a link to a video tutorial on this particular section of the program. This means that if you ever need further information on any part of the Act! Growth Suite program, you can very quickly and easily find this information without having to search for it.
