Stopping the Microsoft SQL Server (ACT7) Instance
Prior to manually uninstalling, you must stop the SQL Server (ACT7) instance. For instructions on stopping the SQL Server (ACT7) instance, refer to the following knowledgebase article:

Ending Running Processes
The following processes must be ended from the Windows Task manager prior to manually uninstalling Act!:
- Act.Outlook.Service.exe
- Act.Outlook.Sync.exe
- Act.Scheduler.UI.exe
- Act.Server.Host.exe
Configuring Windows Explorer
In order to manually uninstall Act!, it is necessary to ensure that Windows Explorer is configured to show hidden files and to show file name extensions. For instructions, refer to the following Microsoft articles below:
Manually removing Act!
Note: If you attempted a conventional uninstall before attempting the manual uninstall, you may not find all of the files, folders and/or registry keys described below
Removing Act! Files and Folders
- Launch Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:
- Windows 7 and later: C:\Users\[Windows Username]\AppData\Roaming\ACT
- Rename the ACT Data folder to ACT DataOLD
- Depending on your operating system type, navigate to the following location:
- 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT
- 32-bit: C:\Program Files\ACT
- Rename the Act! for Windows folder to Act! for WindowsOLD
- Browse to each of the following locations:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server
- C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
- If present, delete the MSSQL10_50.ACT7 and/or MSSQL12.ACT7 folders
- Depending on your operating system type, navigate to the following location:
- 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information
- 32-bit: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information
- Delete any folders with the Act! Product ID/GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) for your version as shown below:

Removing Act! Registry Keys
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog
- In the Run dialog, type regedit, then press Enter to bring up the Windows Registry Editor
Caution: It is strongly recommended that you create a full backup of your system registry before making any changes. Incorrect changes to the registry could result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Make sure you modify only the keys specified. - In the Edit Multi-String dialog, clear all of the Value data, then click OK to remove ACT7 from the Data column

Removing Program icons and Shortcuts
Note: If you plan to reinstall Act!, skip to the Post Uninstall Tasks section
- Right-click the Act! icon on your Desktop, click Delete from the shortcut menu, then confirm the deletion by clicking the Delete Shortcut button
- Right-click the Act! icon on your Taskbar, click Delete from the shortcut menu, then confirm the deletion by clicking the Delete Shortcut button
- Click the Windows Start button, point to All Programs (or Programs), right-click the Act! or Act! Premium options, then click Delete from the shortcut menu
- When the warning prompt appears, click Yes to confirm the deletion
Post Uninstall Tasks
Removing Temp Files
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog
- In the Run dialog, type %temp%, then press Enter
- In the Temp folder, click Edit, then click Select All
- Click the File menu, then click Delete, then confirm the deletion
- Browse to C:\Windows\Temp
- Click the Edit menu, then click Select All
- Click the File menu, click Delete, then confirm the deletion
- Close Windows Explorer
- Reboot your computer
