Question: How do I create and manage multiple unsubscribe pages in Act! Marketing Automation?
Product Details:
- Product Family: Emarketing
- Product: Act! Marketing Automation
Answer:
With Act! Marketing Automation, you as the user have the ability to create more than one unsubscribe page for your account. For example, you may market to to different countries with a contact base of multiple languages, so you want to customize different unsubscribe pages to display these languages.
Another use case for having multiple unsubscribe pages would be if you market different brands under your company umbrella. Each brand has unique logos, colors, etc that you wish to keep separate. Having multiple unsubscribe designers allows you to keep your branding separate while still achieving the automated process of an unsubscribe.
Whatever your use case is for having multiple unsubscribe pages, setup and execution is quick and easy! Here's how:
- From within Act! Marketing Automation, navigate to the Admin menu item.
- From the "What would you like?" drop down, select Subscription Management - Unsubscribe Center > click Go.
- Click the Actions drop down > New Page.
- Select Unsubscribe Center then click Continue.
- On the next setup page, give your unsubscribe page a name, select a landing page skin (check out this article on how to create a skin for your landing page using the drag and drop template editor), then once done, click Create.
Once you click Create, you will be taken to your designer which you will notice looks just like a landing page designer. It works much the same way! To edit your form, click the form step, from the pop up select Edit Form, then click Go.
You are now taken to your questions setup. You will notice that by default, we have already added the email address question along with an "Unsubscribe from All" checkbox. These two questions can not be removed as they are required for the unsubscribe process. Just like your default unsubscribe page, the "Unsubscribe from All" checkbox follows the same automated process. If someone checks that box to unsubscribe, we will immediately move that contact into your global suppression list within AMA, ensuring that contact will no longer receive emails from any AMA campaigns.
You can add more questions here if you like, however if you want to keep it simple with our already set up email and checkbox, you do not need to add additional questions.
Your last step to set this up is to edit the page title and submit button text located along the top of the page. The page title is going to be the text that appears in the contact's browser tab when they click through to this unsubscribe landing page. So you may want to enter something like Your Company Name - Unsubscribe Center. The submit button text may also be anything you want, in this example I entered the below information:
Once you have completed set up of this page, click the Actions drop down > Save and Return. You will be taken back to the flow page. From here, click Actions > Return to be taken back to your unsubscribe center where you will see your newly created unsubscribe page.
Now that setup is complete, how do you add these different unsubscribe pages in your email? You may have noticed that while the unsubscribe center is in the Administration tool and so will require an admin user to create the various unsubscribe pages, the ability to pull in any of your different unsubscribe pages is accessible to any user. Now, when a new campaign is created, and a user is editing the campaign's email, they will have the ability to pull in any existing unsubscribe page.
In a campaign's email step, in the email editor, click the Special Links button in a text block editor and select the Unsubscribe option as you normally would for your default unsubscribe page.
Next, in the email editor, click the Actions drop down > Properties. In this pop up, you will see a drop down for Unsubscribe Landing Page. If you would like to change it from the default to one of your custom pages, click the drop down and select the desired unsubscribe page. Once you have made your selection, click Update.
Now, when the campaign is activated and your email goes out, should any contacts wish to unsubscribe, when they click the unsubscribe link in your email, they will be directed to the page you selected in the properties pop up!
