Answer:
What is the Drag & Drop template File Manager?
The file manager for Drag & Drop templates allows you to upload files and images that you can create links to from within your template. The File Manager is accessible only while editing a specific Drag & Drop template, and will open when performing the following tasks:
- Adding an image to a new Image block, or clicking “Change image” in the content properties for an existing image
- Clicking “Change image” when configuring a background image for a row
- Choosing “Link file” when linking a URL to an image
- Choosing “Link file” when linking a URL to a button
- Choosing “File Manager” as a link type while creating text links
Using the File Manager
Creating Folders
All uploads made to the File Manager page will be available to use across all Drag & Drop templates on your account. By default, files added to the File Manager are added to the File Manager home location. Over time, as more files are added, this could lead to having a large number of files that are hard to locate. To keep things more organized, you may wish to keep your files separated into smaller folders based on a relevance that matters to you, such as the template the files are used in, the purpose of the file (such as company branding and other reusable media), or the type of file. To create a new folder:
- In the top-right corner of the File Manager, click the Add Folder icon
- In the box that appears at the beginning of the file list, type the name of the folder in the “Folder Name” field
- Click the checkmark below the folder name to add the folder
Adding Files
There are three options available for adding files to the File Manager:
- Upload: This allows you to choose a file or image that is on your computer to upload to the File Manager
- Import: This allows you to import images from a direct URL to an image, from a variety of third-party platforms (such as Facebook, Dropbox, Google Drive, and more), or even use your Webcam to take a picture
- Search free photos: This allows you to search for and import stock images that are published under the Creative Commons Zero license. This search is powered by Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay
For instructions on how to add files, click to expand the sections below, depending on the method you would like to use:
Upload a file
- If you wish to add the file to a folder, click the folder you wish to upload the file to
Note: Once added, a file cannot be moved to a folder at a later time. It will have to be deleted and re-uploaded wile in the desired folder.
- In the top-left of the screen, click Upload
- Browse to and select the file you wish to add, then click Open to upload the file
Note: You can also drag a file from an open file browser window and drop it into the file list to upload it.
Import a file from a third-party platform
Note: This option uses a service called Filestack (also known as Filepicker.io) to connect your third-party services to Act! Marketing Automation to allow you to import your images to your template.

Note: Once added, a file cannot be moved to a folder at a later time. It will have to be deleted and re-uploaded wile in the desired folder.

In some cases, you may want to add an image to your template, but you may not have an image in mind. In these instances, you can use the “Search for free photos” to find public domain images that you can use. To do this:
- If you wish to add the file to a folder, click the folder you wish to upload the file to
Note: Once added, a file cannot be moved to a folder at a later time. It will have to be deleted and re-uploaded wile in the desired folder.

- In the “Search images” field, type some keywords that are relevant to the type of image you are looking for, then press Enter or click the magnifying glass
- When you find an image you’d like to use, place your mouse over the image to reveal the Import button, then click it
Searching and previewing uploaded images
You can perform a search based on text that exists in the file name of your file. To do this, navigate to the folder where
your file exists, then type your search terms into the “Search in folder” field. The search will automatically begin
narrowing down the results as you type.
To preview an image, click the Image thumbnail

Note: Deleting files and folders CANNOT be undone. Deleting folders will also delete any files within them. All deleted files will be removed from templates that you are using them in. Before you delete any files or folders, make sure that they are not being used.
- Click the trash can icon for the file or folder you wish to delete
- When prompted if you are sure, click Delete
