This issue will result if your Windows User does not have Full Control of the template, envelope, label or report you are attempting to write, mail merge or run.
- Launch Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the location of the template, document, envelope, label or report file you are attempting to use.
The default location for ACT! reports, labels and envelopes is the labels Reports folder at:
C:..\My Documents\ACT\ACT for Windows\Databases\<Your_database_name>-database files
The default location for ACT! Templates is the Templates folder in the same location.
If your database is not in the default location, click the Help menu, and then click About ACT!. The About ACT! dialog box appears. Click the Database Information button to determine the location of your database files.
If your database is located across a network, you may need to contact the network administrator to be granted Full Control Permissions for the Reports and/or Templates folder(s) for this database.
- Right-click the (.adt, .tpl, .env, .lbl or .rep) file in question, and then click Properties from the shortcut menu. The Properties dialog box appears:
- Under the Security tab, ensure that your Windows User name is selected and that Allow is enabled for the Full Control Permissions (and nothing is enabled in the Deny column). You may need to ensure that the SYSTEM user also has the Allow option enabled for the Full Control Permission.
