Question: How do I manage the Act! Network Sync Service

Opening the Network Sync Service window
Launch the Act! Network Sync Service by Clicking Start > All Programs > Act! Network Sync > Act! Network Sync
Note: If nothing appears to happen, it’s likely that the Act! Network Sync service is open in the background. In this case, right-click the Act! Network Sync Service icon (

) from the Windows System Tray and select Show/Hide.
Once open, the following options are available to you:
Adding a Database to be monitored
Removing a database from the list of monitored databases
Note: This does not delete the database, it only stops a Publisher database from accepting incoming synchronization.
Starting and Stopping the Sync Service
Viewing or changing the monitor Port
The Port number being used can be viewed under "Port..." (or "Monitor Port:" in some older versions). To change the port number:
Note: By default, the port that is used to monitor incoming syncs is port 65100. This port is recommended as it normally results in fewer conflicts, however it can be changed. These settings must be the same at both the Publisher and Subscriber database. Should you need to update the information on the Subscriber database, these settings can be changed in the Synchronization Panel, under Manage Connection Information, on the Subscriber database. Once open, the following options are available to you:

- Click Add…
- Browse to the location of the Publisher database you wish to use for synchronization
- Select the database PAD file, then click Open
- Repeat for any additional Publisher databases you wish to use for synchronization
Removing a database from the list of monitored databases

- Select a database in the list
- Click Remove

- Click Start Sync Service (or Stop Sync Service if you’re trying to stop it)
- When the notification appears, click OK
