Error: "Rule "Long path names to files on SQL Server installation media" failed" When Installing Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2
During the SQL Server 2008 R2 portion of the Sage ACT! installation, the install fails with the error: Rule "Long path names to files on SQL Server installation media" failed".
This error can occur if the file path the SQL Server 2008 R2 installation files exceeds 260 characters. This may be the case if you are installing over a network where the Act! installation files have been placed several directories deep, resulting in a long file path.
To resolve this issue, you will need to copy the Act! installation files to the local C: drive on your machine.
