Fields that I have previously placed in the Contact, Group, Company, or Opportunity layouts are missing from the layout.

This can occur if the layout from the layout selection drop-down was switched from your custom layout to another layout in the drop-down list.
- From the screen that appears to be missing custom fields, click the layout drop-down list in the toolbar at the top of the Act! window
- Select your layout from the list
- Verify that the fields are present
