Symptom: Error"[SqlException (0x80131904): A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)]" when opening the Database list in Actdiag.exe.

Cause: This can happen when Named Pipes are turned off, or the ACT7 instance does not have a correct username or password assigned to it.
Solution:
Option I: Turn on Named Pipes.
- Open SQL Server Connection Manager
- Expand SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration (32-bit)
- Click Client Protocols
- Right-Click Named Pipes
- Select Enabled
- Open Act! Diagnostics and attempt to access the database list
Option II: Run ResetSQL.bat
- Download ResetSQL.bat from the following Knowledgebase article:

- Run ResetSQL.bat as administrator
- Answer Yes to the question "Do you want to turn off Password policy?" and Yes to "Do you want to Reset SQL?"
- After running the file, open Act! Diagnostics and attempt to access the database list
