Navigating Insight
You can access Act! Insight by clicking Insight in the Navbar. Once you have Insight open, you can view the charts that are there, or you can click the double arrow button
on the right hand side of the
Insight page to bring up the Insight Dashboard menu that will allow you to customize the view that you see. The following options are available:
You can toggle information displayed in a graph, such as a bar graph, by clicking one of the items in the graph legend. Additionally, you can hover your mouse over graph data to receive additional information about a particular point on a graph, or, in some charts, click a bar to view a list of data that the bar represents. To return back to the graph after viewing the list, click the bar graph icon at the top of the selected dashboard

Navigating Insight

- Locked/Unlocked: This switch allows you to unlock the charts so that you can rearrange them and resize them as desired
- Select View: Allows you to select from Key Insights, Sales, or Customer Interactions
- Fiscal Year Begins: Allows you to select what month your organization’s fiscal year begins
- Actions: Allows you to Add/Delete views and create/delete custom charts

- In the Insight Dashboard menu, click the Select View: drop-down, then select the desired view
- If necessary, select the first month of your organization’s fiscal year in the Fiscal Year Begins drop-down
- Click a chart in the selected view to display filters for the chart
- Set the filters as appropriate
Rearranging dashboards
- Choose the desired Insight view
- Ensure the Unlock/Lock toggle switch is set so that it reads “Lock”
- Click and drag the chart you wish to rearrange to the location you wish to move it to
- If you wish to resize the dashboard, place your mouse into the bottom right-hand corner of the dashboard where the diagonal double arrow icon is, then click and drag up, down, left, right or diagonally until it is the desired size
- When done, ensure that the Unlock/Lock toggle switch is set so that it reads “Unlock”

- Under Actions, click Add a View
- In the Add a View window, enter a name for the new view
- Click Add View

- Click Delete a View
- In the Delete a View window, click the drop-down and select the view you wish to delete
- Click Delete View

Creating a custom chart
- In the Insight Dashboard Menu, select the view you want to add your custom chart to
- Under Actions:, click Create Custom Chart
- In the Create Custom Chart window, enter a Name for the custom chart
- Under Entity Type, choose one of the following:
- Contact
- Opportunity
- Activity
- History
- Custom Table - This entity has been added as of Act! v21. The name in your list will be the name of any Custom Tables you have created
Note: The options available in the remaining steps will vary depending on the Entity Type you choose.
- Contact
- Under Field, choose the field from the chosen Entity Type that you wish to display the data for
- Under Operation, choose Sum, Count, or Average, if applicable
- Under Chart Type, choose the desired available chart type
- When you’re finished, click Save Chart
Editing a custom chart
- Click to select the custom chart you wish to edit
- In the Insight Dashboard Menu, under Actions, click Edit Selected Chart
- Make the desired changes, then click Save Chart when you're finished
Deleting a custom chart
You can delete a custom chart by selecting the chart within Act! Insight, then clicking Delete Selected Chart
