How to back up and restore an Act! database
You can import data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or CSV file into a custom table. To do this:
- Click Custom Tables > Data Import > Import From Spreadsheet
- On the Select source file screen, click the browse button to browse to and select the file you wish to import, then click Next
- On the Destination Entity screen, select the custom table you wish to import to, then click Next
- On the Map Entity Fields screen, if the file you are trying to import contains fields that can be used to link the records to an Act! entity (a contact, a company, etc.), select and map them, then click Next
Note: If no mappings are defined, the records will be imported under the currently logged in user’s contact record
- On the Map Custom Table Fields screen, map the Import Field fields to the custom table fields
- If necessary, select fields to enable duplicate checking for by checking the box in the Duplicate Check column next to each required field, then click Next
- On the Duplicate Check Settings screen, select whether to Overwrite, Overwrite if field is blank, or Do not overwrite, then click Next
- Click Next again to import the records into the database, then click Next again when instructed to
- Click Finish at the end of the wizard
