Answer:
Landing pages are pages that use forms to request information about visitors to your website, or they can be used as stand alone pages like a survey that you can link to in an email. For example, landing pages can be used as sign-up forms for special offers, mailing lists, etc.
There are two types of landing pages that can be used in Act! Marketing Automation:
- HTML Page: A landing page for an existing web form on your site. This type will generate an HTML script that your web developer would place alongside your web form.
- Page Designer: A landing page that is hosted by AMA. This type will generate a unique URL that can be used to link in an email or iFramed onto your website.
The most commonly used landing page is the HTML Page type landing page that is used for an existing web form. These allow you to capture data that is input into your web form and map that data back to your contact fields in Act! via the landing page's HTML script. So, you can think if this type as a bridge connecting your web form to your CRM.
The second type of landing page that is hosted through Act! Marketing Automation is called a Page Designer type landing page. As mentioned, this type of landing page will generate a unique URL that you can use to link people to your form.
A common use case for this is a survey. For example, you may want to send an email out to your contacts asking them to take a customer satisfaction survey. In this case, you would add the landing page URL to a call to action in your email so that your recipients can click the link and complete the survey. Similar to the HTML Page type landing page, this type also maps all data back to your contact fields in Act!
