In order to ensure compliance with the privacy regulations, Act! Marketing Automation users who use Web Activity features will be required to add a click tracking CNAME (Custom URL) record to their DNS if they wish to cookie leads who are visiting their website. It is important to note, AMA cookies a lead when a contact opens an email sent through AMA and clicks a link in the email that takes them to your website containing our web tracking script. Once they are cookied, you will gain visibility of their email address and will be able to see any time they visit your website in future sessions.
If you choose not to add a CNAME (Custom URL) record, you will still be able to use Web Activity tracking in Act! Marketing Automation, but lead visibility into tracking metrics will be lost.

The first step will be done within your company's network. Please add the CNAME that is appropriate to your company’s region. To make this change, you'll need to contact whoever is responsible for managing your company's DNS, most likely your IT team.
Be sure to replace yourdomain.com in the Host Name with the domain name for your company. The domain you choose as yourdomain.com should match your web domain, as this allows us to place the tracking cookie.

Once the CNAME has been updated on your network, you will then want to update this CNAME in your Act! Marketing Automation account. To do this, navigate to Administration within AMA and from the drop down select Account Configuration and click Go.
On this page navigate to the Custom Domain Settings section. Click the Add A Custom URL link next to "URL for Click Tracking".
In the pop up, add your CNAME to the URL for Click Tracking field and click Save.
Once the CNAME is added, click the Actions dropdown and select Save to complete this setup.
