Symptom: Error: "An administrator of the database has modified the password policy. You must change your password" when trying to log into Act!

This error will occur if an administrator of the Act! database has applied or modified the password policy, and your user password no longer meets the requirements.
When this happens you will be prompted to update your password. The Set Password screen will include the specific password policy that has been applied:
The error has also been known to occur if you are attempting to log into an Act! database that has too many Active users. For example, you may have recently downgraded to a 5 user license for Act!, but there are currently 10 Active users in the database.
To check this, log into your database as an administrator, then navigate to Tools > Manage Users
In the list of users, check how many are Active compared to how many users you are allowed to have.
If you find you have more Active users than you are allowed, click each user you no longer need, click Edit user Information and make sure to set them to Inactive.
