Symptom: SQL 2014 and 2016 Installation Failures on Windows 10 20H2 build

Third Party: Microsoft SQL 2014 and 2016
Solution:
We have become aware of an issue which means SQL 2014 or SQL 2016 fail to install on Windows 10 20H2 build.
This update to Windows 10 is the cause of the problem, and even though the update was optional, it may be the case that some customers have performed the update and encountered this issue.
Actions:
Microsoft have now released an updated KB for this outlining the problem (and quoting the error message "Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation"). The article also contains steps required to address the problem:
